Picking on Peers

Sometimes people choose to use harsh language to be unkind to others online or in person. With practice, we can feel empowered to say something to shift the comments toward being more positive and inclusive both on the screen and in a classroom or cafeteria.

Younger Children – How can you reach out to and include the students who are new to your school? The kids who do not easily make friends?

Middle School – When you notice that certain classmates are being picked on or tormented, how can you let that classmate know you want to support them and be an ally?

High School – If a group chat on social media or within an online game goes beyond good-natured competition and becomes uncomfortable for some participants, what can you do to turn it around?
