Safer Internet Day
Tuesday, February 11, 2025

Thank you for joining the movement for a safer and better internet! With a global, community-led approach, Safer Internet Day encourages everyone to come together and play their part in improving the internet.

ConnectSafely is the official U.S. coordinator of this international event, celebrated in more than 100 countries. The global theme of Safer Internet Day 2025 is Together for a Better Internet. Here in the U.S., we’re focusing on six topics, but we have many more resources depending on your local needs.

Main topic areas for 2025:

  • Generative AI
  • Media literacy and critical thinking
  • Civility
  • Picking on peers
  • Wellness, identity and self-respect
  • Scams, predators and creeps

Here are some ideas for your home, school or organization:

Individuals & Families

School & youth-serving organizations

  • Apply for a grant for educators and community groups!
  • Use our resources for students. For each of the six topics, we’ve put together a definition statement to clarify the topic, along with discussion questions suited for elementary, middle and high school students. In addition, there are links to resources such as ConnectSafely lesson plans, guides and quick guides, plus short videos with accompanying discussion questions.
  • Use social media to spread the word about #SaferInternetDay and encourage others to participate (suggested text and graphics)
  • Write an op-ed for community media and pitch local news stations on what your school or organization is doing for Safer Internet Day.

Businesses and civic organizations

  • Have your own event or a session about internet safety during a regular meeting in February.
  • Write an op-ed for the local media and pitch local news stations on what your company or organization is doing for Safer Internet Day.
  • Spread the word about #SaferInternetDay on social media (here are suggested text and graphics)
  • Consider becoming a Safer Internet Day sponsor (we have different plans for nonprofits and businesses)

Tell us how you participated in Safer Internet Day.

We want to hear how you — individuals, families, schools, organizations, and companies — participated in Safer Internet Day. No participation is too big or too small!
